Make Your WiFi Work Smarter with the CalTel SmartHome App
Have you ever wished your internet just knew what to prioritize? Like making sure your Zoom call doesn’t freeze—even when someone else is streaming a movie or downloading a game?
That’s exactly what the MyPrioritiesIQ feature in the CalTel SmartHome App is for. And if you haven’t checked it out yet, it’s worth a quick look—especially if you’ve got a busy household with multiple devices online.
What Is MyPrioritiesIQ?
MyPrioritiesIQ is a feature that helps you control how your WiFi works by giving priority to the things that matter most to you—like work, entertainment, or gaming. Think of it as a way to tell your network where to focus its energy.

MyPrioritiesIQ is a feature that helps you control how your WiFi works by giving priority to the things that matter most to you—like work, entertainment, or gaming. Think of it as a way to tell your network where to focus its energy.
It’s built right into the SmartHome App, and once you open it, you’ll see a section that says Traffic Priorities. You’ll notice a Default list already in place with this order:
- Work
- Video & Music
- Gaming
- Browsing
- File Transfers
- P2P File Sharing

This means that if everyone’s online at the same time, your network will do its best to keep things like video calls and streaming running smoothly—even if someone else starts a large download in the background.
Why You Might Want to Customize It
The default settings are a solid starting point, but your household might have different needs.
For example:
- Got a serious gamer in the house? Move Gaming up on the list.
- Hosting family movie night every weekend? Bump up Video & Music.
- Running a small business from home? Keep Work at the top.
The best part? You don’t need to be tech-savvy to make changes.
How to Update Your Priorities in the App
Here’s how to adjust your traffic preferences in just a few taps:
- Open the CalTel SmartHome App
- Tap on MyPrioritiesIQ under the Services tab
- Tap Update Default Priorities
- Drag and drop the categories into the order that works for your household
- Hit Save
That’s it—your WiFi will now prioritize the activities that matter most to you.
If you want even more control, you can also add Work Mode, Entertainment Mode, or Gamer Mode as quick presets, or go a step further and prioritize specific devices in your home.
